Dive Grenada’s Staff Picks: 10 Best Places to Eat in Grenada

If you’re planning a trip to Grenada and wondering where to enjoy some delicious food or post dive drinks, look no further! Grenada is known for its vibrant cuisine, influenced by its Caribbean, African, and Indian heritage. From beachside seafood shacks to elegant restaurants, the island offers a range of dining options to suit all tastes. Here are the 10 most likely places to find your dive crew relaxing after work:

1.61 West

Just a short walk down beautiful Grand Anse Beach will deliver you to an incredible number of tasty restaurants and bars… but 61* West is definitely one of the crew’s favorite places in the area. Right on the beach with plenty of shade, cool breeze, and a view of the sunset to kill for. Tell them Dive Grenada sent you for a margarita and you will be family in no time. In all seriousness though, the food, drinks, and service are all top notch and consistent time after time. We love snacking on their Asian Tang Wings (thought by some to be the best wings on the island), the Pork Belly is to die for, and we just can’t get enough of the fresh salads they prepare with local veggies! But you’re on vacation, you don’t want a salad… you want fish tacos (which are also awesome)!

2. Antonio’s Restaurant and Pizzeria

Situated within the Marquis Complex (AKA The Round Houses), Antonio’s serves up Grenada’s best pizza six days a week at lunch and dinner. This local hot spot is no one trick pony however, in addition to delicious brick oven fired pizza, Antonio’s offers a large variety of home-made Italian deliciousness! We love being able to pre-order online and bring lunch/dinner back to the dive shop and probably use this convenience more often than we should. Being the best does have one drawback, these guys are always busy, but they are always stoked about it! If you aren’t taking your meal to go, call ahead for dinner reservations so you can hang out and watch the show! Pro tip: The homemade Passioncello is out of this world, do yourself a favor and just order the whole bottle!

3. Brisa Mar

For a fantastic meal with a beautiful view, it’s hard to beat Brisa Mar which is located on Quarantine Point overlooking Morne Rouge Bay, just a short walk from Dive Grenada. Cool island breezes and perfect sunsets pair to enhance the already beautiful décor, fabulous food and craft cocktails 7 days a week! Our staff love to pop into their comfy lounge area for a post dive meal or celebratory beverage… it’s okay to celebrate every turtle sighting, right? Speaking of beverages, their bartenders are great and blend craft cocktails with care behind a well appointed bar; I’m a huge fan of their Moscow Mule and the Brisa Mar Gin, but have it on good authority that the Bloody Mary and Sangrias do not disappoint. When dining, definitely don’t miss out on their A La Kiev, or the Fish and Chips, but honestly we haven’t had anything we didn’t like here!

4. Calabash Resort Restaurants

Located at Calabash Luxury Boutique Hotel are several of our favorite “day off locations” because they are just so great, you’ll need more than just one meal here. Rhodes Restaurant, Izakaya, and the Beach House all provide elegant dining experiences and impeccable service, which make them perfect for special occasions, or just treating yourself the way you deserve to be treated J. If you get the chance, jump right in, and try the Omakase experience at Izakaya, it’s literally the only reason I celebrate birthdays anymore!

5. Marquis Complex (AKA “The Round Houses”)

If you’re seeking a unique experience, look no further than the Marquis Complex. Home to so many of our staff’s favorite eats, including Antonio’s (already mentioned above), Bella Milano, Carib Sushi, Chadon Beni, East West and Pasta & Vino. Not only are these places all spectacular, but the location, in the heart of Grand Anse, is just a short walk from Dive Grenada!

  • Bella Milano our local Italian bakery and coffee house, they open early and are the perfect place to pop in for an early morning bite to eat. Be aware, the pastries are so delicious, if you’re not careful, you may still be sipping coffees and nibbling on tarts well past lunch time!
  • Carib Sushi Sushi in the Caribbean?!?! Absolutely!!!! Carib Sushi does a fantastic job paring fresh local ingredients with traditional techniques to create visually stunning and delicious options for every pallet. Having lived in Japan for several years, Carib Sushi is a mainstay in our dining rotation.
  • Chadon Beni Even though the line often makes its way outside, I often think our staff keeps this place in business with how often we drop in for breakfast and lunch in a hurry! This is an awesome example of local Caribbean at its best, and you are never waiting for more than a few minutes, making it the perfect place to grab a quick lunch in between dives. The staff is torn between favorites here, I love their Doubles, Garry thinks the chicken Roti is the best… Marlon loves it all as long as they cover it with pepper sauce! Honestly, try one of everything while you’re visiting.
  •  East West Recently opened but making a big splash is East West Restaurant and Bar, serving delicious Mediterranean and middle eastern style dishes. Their lamb wrap and lamb plate are our go to’s when we are hungry.
  • Pasta & Vino: Talk about service. This place is the best of the best. With the welcoming feel as you walk in to the homemade pasta being made as you order. This place is little Italy. I could go on and on about what I love but if you only have time to try a few things pick up their lasanga and ask for extra bachamel sauce (calories don’t count on vacation).

6. Aquarium Restaurant

Sunday’s at the Aquarium for for hanging out and relaxing, to be honest, it’s hard not to relax just walking into this incredible location. Live music, a flaming BBQ, and literally one of the best views on the island make this a favorite team hangout for sure!

7. La Phare Bleu

Located at beautiful Petite Calivigny Bay in Egmont, La Phare Bleu is home to an eclectic collection of shops, services, and some amazing food options all just a short 10-15 minute’s drive from Grand Anse Beach. The Marina Village contains some of our favorite places to eat and shop such as Island Fever Tropical Tavern, Blue Light Distillery, Vibe Island Drinks, and Meat & Meet Market.

  • Island Fever Tropical TavernIsland Fever Tropical Tavern offers an all-day menu featuring regionally influenced Caribbean seafood and comfort food using local ingredients in creative ways. They have a good variety of items on the menu and the kitchen is consistent in its execution. We love heading there for their whole grilled lionfish.
  • Blue Light Distillery- Nestled within La Phare Bleu resort, their solar-powered distillery is the perfect place to escape, and sip on some boutique batch gin.
  • Meat & Meet Market- Marie and Gilles run an amazing boutique grocery store located at La Phare Bleu. Experience an unapparelled selection of organic meats, vibrant produce, artisanal breads, pastries, and more. We love stopping in for their delicious selection of premade salads, marinated olives and foccacia.

8. Container Park

Located in the heart of True Blue, St. George’s, Container Park is an eco-conscious food village with complete off-road parking and an unrivalled view of True Blue Bay. Originally started with just a couple of shipping containers (turned into a coffee spot an a smoothie bar), it now features numerous food options, such as burgers, sushi, Indian food and a smokehouse; includes places to grab a drink, like an events/shots bar and a sports bar; and is completed with facilities such as a stage with Grenada’s largest outdoor projector screen and new shaded seating areas for patrons to enjoy.

9. Umbrella’s Beach Bar

Situated on the popular Grand Anse Beach, Umbrella’s Beach Bar is a casual spot to enjoy a tasty meal with your toes in the sand. Their menu includes a variety of Caribbean dishes, including delicious seafood, grilled meats, and refreshing tropical drinks. We personally love the nourish bowl and the BIG DILL Burger but it depend on whether it is a cheat day or not.

10. Esther’s Bar

Located at the Grand Anse Spice & Craft Market.

Grenada offers a diverse culinary scene that will surely satisfy your taste buds. Whether you’re seeking gourmet experiences or laid-back beachside dining, this island has it all. Snorkel Grenada’s Underwater Sculpture Park

The Marine Protected Area is home to our favourite snorkelling sites in Grenada. Our trained guides give you a full snorkel safety briefing on the dive boat before entering the water. They will also brief you on points of interest and fish species you may see whilst snorkelling.

The Underwater Sculpture Park is a major snorkelling attraction in Grenada. It was the first of Jason deCaires Taylor’s underwater gardens to be created, and widely acclaimed as the first of its kind. The snorkel site is now listed as one of National Geographic’s 25 Wonders of the World. Local sculptors have added to deCaire’s original collection and the snorkel park promotes fascinating conversations about the history and culture of Grenada.

The sculptures cover an underwater area of around 800 square metres and are placed in sand patches and gullies between natural rock formations. Perfect for snorkelling, they sit at depths of 5-9 metres – easy to view as you float above. Confident snorkelers can dive down for a closer look.
